BETH
BETH was produced for Mosaic Festival 2016 in London.
Beth is a self-described dyke and she runs The Dunsinane, it's the only gay bar left in Scarborough but the town are trying to get it closed down. It's not just a job to her, it's a home, a place where her people can live away from their families, it's a castle to protect them.
She's often said she'll go to any length to defend this place and that promise is put to the test when Mackenzie marches on the bar.
The bar gives life to its punters, but, is it worth hers in return?
BETH is a rewriting of Macbeth. It's a spoken word musical exploring the role gay bars play in working-class communities where queerness can't be performed anywhere else.
